A New Dog Groomer In Winnipeg!

April 30, 2015
As of April 15th I have become a Winnipegger!  I was born here but moved before I could remember anything but I am amused that I have returned with my 8 month old daughter to my birth place!  We are excited for my mom to visit so we can retrace our steps 32 years ago.

At the moment I am in the process of applying for my business license.  It is a lot more involved than the City of Edmonton home based licensing so I have a little bit of work ahead of me.  I've ordered some business cards and have updated my website and am eager to get my salon renovations on the go!  I hope to have everything done by June 1st.

I have another home based dog groomer on my street and the commercial areas within walking distance are littered with grooming shops but I have my own niche and my own style I'm sure will bring pets to my door :)

I cannot wait to get back into it!  When you work in the grooming industry for over 12 years, its strange to all of a sudden not have any appointments booked!  This change is a little welcome though as I get to focus on my daughter and setting up our new home.

The next few months should be interesting as I launch a new business in a new city!  Wish me luck!

A long overdue update!

June 12, 2014
I have a great relationship with so many of my clients and lots of them know more intimate details of my life.  Its almost impossible to not share when I welcome 5-6 clients into my home every day :)  But here's a quick update to let you know whats new and what that means for Cutie Pies!

In the summer of 2012 I married that boy from Saskatchewan who owns that roughriders barbecue some of you give me grief for :)  You may have met him or you may meet him one day!  His name is Dave and he loves...

Not Just A Bath

May 16, 2012
About a month ago I had a neighbour knock on my door asking about my grooming services.  He had met a client of mine on the street and was surprised to know there was a pet grooming business in his neighbourhood.  He came asking about how much I would charge for his shetland sheepdog.  (sheltie)  I was pretty excited because they are my favourite dogs to groom and I don't have any regulars!  I told him I would have to give him a price range because he didn't have his dog with him and I have s...

My Fur Family

May 10, 2012
All my life I have had an animal in my house and sharing my bed at night.  When I was younger, one of our cats, Angel, had a litter of kittens that she kept in our bedroom closet.  One night I decided that I wanted to share my bed with all those newborn kittens.  At the time I didn't think much of it beyond the sheer joy of having multiple cats in my bed, but looking back I see that two extraordinary things happened (or didn't happen for that matter) to let me fulfill my heart's desires.  1) ...

At Home Maintenance

April 20, 2012
Wondering what you can do to keep your pup looking good in between grooms?  Well don't ask me, you should see my dogs!  All kidding aside, I do have a few tips.

Arm yourself with a really good slicker brush and a metal comb.  Without proper lifting of longer coats, a brush will keep the top coat silky, while down at the skin, little mats are getting ready to take over.  The comb can be used to detect where matting is occurring, then you can use your brush to make sure you are working on that...

A Big Year For Cutie Pies!

April 10, 2012
I've been working hard for the past three years to establish my business and thankfully, I have made it.  I'm busy, but not so busy I can't enjoy life.  I have been booked a week or two out and thanks to the mild winter we've had, I never slowed for the months of January or February.  Thank you everyone!  I am no longer in the yellowpages (boycott!)  so I'm working harder on developing a better web presence.  Hence the changes on the website, and more action on the facebook page.  Please do l...

Puppy's First Groom!

March 11, 2010
Who doesn't love puppies!!!  I love it when my day includes a puppy groom.  I especially love grooming puppies when its their first time visiting a groomer.  I like to be that groomer.  I feel honoured to introduce them to the process and do my best to make it relaxed and as enjoyable as possible!  Regular professional grooming will become a big part of your dog's social life for years to come.  The sooner they make that first visit the better :)

It is best to come in before they're in dire ne...
